Our growing pulmonology clinic in Waukee, IA is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated care team. The LPN will support our pulmonologists and medical staff by providing direct patient care, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and helping coordinate treatment plans for patients with respiratory and sleep-related conditions.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative outpatient setting.
Greet and prepare patients for exams, obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists.
Assist providers with pulmonary function testing, spirometry, oxygen titration, and nebulizer treatments.
Administer medications and immunizations as prescribed.
Perform patient education on inhaler techniques, oxygen use, sleep study preparation, and medication management.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (e.g., sputum cultures, throat swabs).
Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Manage phone triage and respond to patient inquiries regarding medications, results, or treatment plans under provider direction.
Monitor and maintain medical equipment, supplies, and exam room readiness.
Support coordination of care with hospitals, pharmacies, and home health agencies.
Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and privacy standards.
Current Iowa Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
Current BLS/CPR certification required.
Prior experience in pulmonology, internal medicine, or another outpatient specialty strongly preferred.
Proficiency with EHR systems and medical documentation.
Strong understanding of respiratory care principles, including oxygen therapy and inhaler use.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
