Our busy urgent care clinic in Des Moines is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient care team. The CMA will assist providers with clinical and administrative tasks to ensure the highest quality care and efficient clinic operations. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Greet and prepare patients for examination, obtaining medical history and vital signs.
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and minor office surgeries.
Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.
Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Manage patient flow, schedule follow-ups, and coordinate care as needed.
Sterilize instruments and maintain examination rooms according to infection control standards.
Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and prescription refill requests.
Support front-office operations as needed, including registration and billing tasks.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current certification required; one of the following is accepted:
CCMA-NHA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – National Healthcareer Association)
CMA-AAMA (Certified Medical Assistant – American Association of Medical Assistants)
CMA-NCCT (Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing)
CMA-NCMA (Certified Medical Assistant – National Certified Medical Assistant)
NRCMA-NAHP (Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant – National Association of Health Professionals)
RMA-AMT (Registered Medical Assistant – American Medical Technologists)
RMA-AAH (Registered Medical Assistant – American Allied Health)
RMA-ARMA (Registered Medical Assistant – American Registry of Medical Assistants)
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Previous experience in an urgent care, family practice, or ambulatory care setting preferred.
