Our Family Medicine Clinic in Altoona, IA, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to ensure the best possible patient experience.
Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.
Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.
Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection.
Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and provide patient education.
Ensure compliance with clinic policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and other healthcare regulations.
Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program required.
Must hold one of the following active certifications:
CCMA (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, National Healthcareer Association
CMA (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant, American Association of Medical Assistants
CMA-NCCT – Certified Medical Assistant, National Center for Competency Testing
CMA-NCMA – Certified Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant
NRCMA (NAHP) – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, National Association of Health Professionals
RMA (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Medical Technologists
RMA (AAH) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Allied Health
RMA (ARMA) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Registry of Medical Assistants
Current CPR/BLS certification required.
Previous experience in a family medicine or primary care setting preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and patient service skills.
