Overview

Under the direction of the POM Manager, the incumbent plans, budgets, organizes and coordinates the activities of the maintenance associates and contractors to ensure the hospital's equipment and buildings are maintained to the highest quality possible.

Responsibilities

Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity. 

  • Budgets, plans, organize, supervise, and inspect the work of the associates reporting to the position to ensure proper maintenance and repairs are being accomplished in a timely and proper manner.
  • Coordinate day to day calls on general maintenance and repairs, responsible for all equipment, i.e. beds, walls chairs, cooking equipment, etc.
  • Develops personnel work schedules and assures each shift is supported sufficiently to satisfy the maintenance and operational requirements of the facility.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily rounds and routines, inspections of ramps, buildings, grounds, snow removal, and roofs.
  • Establishes personal and departmental objectives to include: personal growth and development, departmental personnel training and development, departmental and facility improvements.
  • Complies with the hospital's policies in personnel management and administrative actions, and assists the POM Manager in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Inspects work performed by department associates and contractors to assure timely completion and job quality.
  • Make routine inspections to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies and reports discrepancies to the POM Manager.
  • Maintains and/or assist maintenance staff in locating and ordering supplies (following established procedures), replacement parts, and equipment for routine and emergency maintenance and repair.
  • Assists in controlling payroll costs, repair costs, and operational expenses within budgetary limits, and provides and maintains pertinent records.
  • Ensures proper documentation in ISIS of logs, and records of preventative, corrective, casualty prevention, and minor construction activities.
  • Maintain ISIS Asset Inventory and ensure a 95% completion rate of tier 1 preventive maintenance work orders, monthly.
  • Understands, observes, and complies with all safety precautions and procedures of the department and hospital.
  • Assure maintenance department performs assigned duties during fire, internal and external disaster codes and drills.
  • Evaluates, orients, and trains associates to improve their productivity and technical knowledge.
  • Assist the POM Manager with the scheduling and installation of infrastructure equipment and projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the POM Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must have excellent knowledge of all aspects of hospital electro/mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Must have the ability to organize work, determine priorities, and assign tasks and follow-up to completion.
  • Must maintain effective working relationships with all hospital staff and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to train and motivate department associates to actively promote their development.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to matters which are urgent and confidential.
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
