Provides leadership, direction, and administration of UnityPoint Clinics and assigned outpatient hospital departments to ensure the highest levels of quality and service, and compliance with established objectives, the mission, vision, and values of UPH and with any applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements. Responsible for overall supervision of assigned ambulatory and hospital operations to ensure high quality patient care that optimizes quality of care and financial performance. Provide organization and direction for patient care and support services according to the organizational mission, vision, business ethics and scope of services offered. Will be accountable for identifying cross-market opportunities that support both the market initiatives in alignment system strategic plan. In conjunction with the UPC COO and UPH Market President, identifies market development opportunities, drives service line strategies and growth, and physician and partner alignment initiatives that produce volume growth and improve market share in the communities that we operate.

Operational leadership
• Responsible for overall supervision of clinic operations to ensure high quality patient care that optimizes financial performance.
• Create a culture of innovation, teamwork, learning and professional practice consistent with the vision for best outcome for every patient every time.
• Lead regional process improvement efforts that support the development of innovation in clinical care delivery.
• Participates in the development of the overall strategy for the assigned region.
• Responsible for managing the financial, human and capital resources of the region by monitoring operating revenues and expenses, establishing and maintaining cost control programs, monitoring budget variances, initiating corrective actions as necessary and reporting significant variances/concerns to COO.
• Monitors clinic patterns and metrics, presents operational data analysis and interpretation to Market Leadership Team, Regional Provider Council and other committees as requested.
• Recruit, retain, develop and supervise Clinic Administrators and Director(s) in the assigned market.
• Works within the market to structure operations to achieve alignment and accountability within the regional integrated delivery system.
• Provides proactive communication, leadership and advocacy for the diverse components of the market.
• Works collaboratively with Market leadership team and the Medical Director on all matters related to the creation of a seamless delivery system.
• Work collaboratively with the Market Medical Director on the recruitment and development of physicians. Collaborate to improve physician/provider satisfaction when needed.
• Communicate effectively on future plans so all are informed and can implement successfully.
• Implement new or revise current programs and/or services set out in organizational business plans.
• Actively lead and enlist support for activities to increase growth and revenue in communities.
• Participate in community activities that promote and enhance our organization
• Assures compliance with all regulatory agencies and rules of accrediting bodies.
• Maintains compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and Risk Management guidelines.
• Maintains compliance with Personnel policies and procedures.
• Behaves in a manner consistent with all Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as requested by the COO.
Culture and Strategy Development
• Develop and implement innovative long-range strategy to achieve initiatives, priorities, and goals of the department. Ensure the strategy aligns with the overall mission and vision of UnityPoint Health and its affiliates.
• Assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; oversees revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; prepares annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
• Establishes effective mechanisms of communication with staff and the management team to foster an environment of openness, trust, teamwork, and staff development.
• Provides leadership to staff that encourages staff empowerment, decision making, and planning to ensure effective, efficient operations, optimizing performance, and continually improving quality in a vastly changing health care environment.
• Motivates, facilitates, mentors and coach team to deliver high quality, cost-effective services. Facilitates the on-going learning, well-being, professional satisfaction, and development of staff through training, work assignments, increased responsibility, and mentoring.
• Evaluates performance of direct reports and teams. Makes recommendations for personnel actions and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Performs performance reviews for staff within the department.
• Creates an environment for staff growth, development, career planning, productivity, and satisfaction by conducting staff meetings and one-on-one meetings at least monthly with all direct reports.
• Develops and ensures metrics, goals, and projects are executed, tracked, and accomplished for the department.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in health or business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
5-8 years of experience in/with leading and directing medical group operations
