Overview

The Health Education Coordinator is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education and organizational learning initiatives. This role supports evidence-based practice across the organization by identifying educational needs, coordinating professional development activities, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop evidence-based curricula and training materials
• Evaluate curriculum and instructional material and work with providership organizations to continually meet requirements for CEU/CEH distribution
• Assess, plan, and coordinate continuing education programs for clinical and non-clinical staff
• Manage logistics for in-person and virtual educational events, including workshops, seminars, and webinars
• Conduct organizational learning needs assessments in collaboration with department leaders
• Support onboarding and orientation programs for new staff

• Contributes to the annual budget process of the Health Education Center and operates within the budget
• Exhibits flexibility and openness to changes as a result of the continual evaluation of the Health Education Center

• Serve as a liaison for hospital staff and learning management system for online learning modules.
• Participates in professional organizations and maintains professional growth
• Organizes task forces/committees and provides leadership in accordance with both parent organizations' guidelines. Serves on task forces/committees as appointed.
• Collaborates and networks with other health systems and community organizations to facilitate the delivery of continuing education
•Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to accommodate departmental education needs

• Coordinates ongoing review of nursing and HEC policies and procedures
• Work with document managers to identify updates references
• Supports implementation of evidence based practiced into policy implementation

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required

Masters Degree in Nursing preferred

 

 

Experience:

Three years experience with progressive responsibilities and demonstrated leadership abilities as a member of the healthcare team required.
Experience in planning and executing education programs preferred.

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. (i.e., demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills)

Multicultural sensitivity.
Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.

Customer/patient focused.
Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

Ability to work effectively with others, solves problems, think creatively, communicate effectively, and implement change in a positive manner. Ability to organize, do long range planning. Possesses integrity, initiative, flexibility, and effective interpersonal skills.
