Overview

Varied Hours, 4-10 hour shifts

 

Under the general supervision of the Manager, assists the Managers or assumes, in their absence, the 24 hour responsibility for coordinating, planning, and evaluating nursing procedures and personnel in the delivery of care to the pediatric, adult and geriatric patient in the Oncology/Neurology Department.

Responsibilities

• Hires, fires, evaluates, disciplines staff within defined organizational parameters
• Provides specific and timely feedback to employees to improve performance
• Monitors and manages variances from expected performances
• Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, Joint Commission, IDPH, CARF, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
• Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
• Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.  Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.  Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Three years acute care experience.
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa and Illinois.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
