The House Supervisor/Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who provides leadership for hospital operations while guiding emergency management efforts at Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH). Serving as the administrative representative during assigned shifts, this role ensures safe, high-quality patient care through coordination, supervision, and support of clinical teams, including direct charge nurse responsibilities in the Emergency Department.
In addition to operational oversight, the position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining GCMH’s Emergency Management program. By fostering collaboration across disciplines and with community partners, the House Supervisor/Emergency Preparedness Coordinator promotes hospital readiness, facilitates disaster response, and supports recovery efforts while balancing the daily needs of patient care and long-term emergency preparedness planning.

Hospital Leadership
Serve as the clinical resource and administrative representative during shifts.
Oversee hospital operations, staffing, and patient flow to ensure safe, high-quality care.
Support patient care as needed, respond to emergencies, and address concerns with sound judgment.
Emergency Department Support
Provide charge nurse support, including patient transfers and coordination with EMS and providers.
Ensure appropriate staffing, safe work environments, and adequate supplies and equipment.
Emergency Preparedness
Lead GCMH’s Emergency Management program, including staff training, drills, and incident command.
Collaborate with local and regional partners on planning, response, and recovery efforts.
Maintain policies, procedures, and compliance for hospital readines
Required
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa.
Minimum of 3 years recent RN experience in a hospital setting (emergency department experience required).
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and Dependent Adult & Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter (per policy).
FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
Valid driver’s license for work-related travel.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Recent experience as a nurse leader and/or in emergency preparedness or disaster response.
FEMA IS 300, 400, 800, and HSEEP training (or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment).
Current professional certification related to practice (e.g., National Healthcare Disaster Certification [NHDP-BC] from ANCC).
Demonstrated leadership skills with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to apply principles of supervision to achieve hospital and nursing administration goals.
