Overview

Shift:  Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

 

As a key member of the New Horizons team, the Prevention Coordinator is responsible for leading substance abuse prevention efforts across Muscatine County. This role involves developing and managing workplans, scheduling prevention activities, coordinating staff schedules, tracking data, and preparing reports for grant compliance. The Prevention Coordinator delivers comprehensive prevention services throughout the county, including facilitating evidence-based curriculum in schools, providing workplace training and technical assistance, and serving as a subject matter expert on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.  Additionally, this position collaborates with community coalitions to promote prevention initiatives and makes informed decisions to support the overall mission of reducing substance abuse in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates evidenced based curriculum in the schools, provides substance abuse education and early intervention services, provides workplace trainings and technical assistance, facilitates alternative activities with a prevention focus, provides accurate alcohol, tobacco and drug information at local events, facilitates and coordinates prevention grant workplan activities.
  • Creates and distributes accurate alcohol, tobacco and other drug information via social media, email and other communication methods.
  • Participates in community coalitions to promote substance abuse prevention activities.
  • Maintains and reports accurate information regarding completion of workplan.
  • Facilitates evidenced based curriculum in the schools, provides substance abuse education and early intervention services, provides workplace trainings and technical assistance, facilitates alternative activities with a prevention focus, provides accurate alcohol, tobacco and drug information at local events, facilitates and coordinates prevention grant workplan activities.

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Human Services Field
