Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Family Medicine team in Norwalk, Iowa. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will support providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals and families across all ages. This position requires clinical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent patient service.

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant clinical information.

  • Prepare and assist providers with examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries.

  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the provider.

  • Perform routine diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, vision screenings, and specimen collection.

  • Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Maintain inventory and cleanliness of exam rooms and clinical areas.

  • Follow established protocols for infection control and patient safety.

  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the provider.

  • Coordinate patient referrals, prior authorizations, and prescription refills.

  • Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program (required).

  • Certification: Must hold and maintain one of the following current certifications:

    • AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistants

    • NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing

    • NHA – National Healthcareer Association

    • AMT – American Medical Technologists (Registered Medical Assistants)

  • Experience: Previous clinical experience in a family medicine or outpatient clinic setting is preferred but not required.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

    • Proficient in using electronic medical record systems

    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
