We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Internal Medicine team in Norwalk, Iowa. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will support providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to adult patients often managing complex or chronic medical conditions. This position requires clinical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent patient service.
Room adult patients and obtain accurate vital signs, health histories, and medication lists.
Assist providers with physical exams, chronic disease follow-ups, and Medicare wellness visits.
Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, diabetic foot exams, and specimen collection (urine, blood, etc.).
Administer medications and adult immunizations per provider orders.
Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Support chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD) through patient education and follow-up coordination.
Coordinate referrals to specialists, prior authorizations, and diagnostic testing.
Monitor and manage prescription refill requests and medication reconciliation.
Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and readiness for each patient visit.
Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Participate in care team meetings and quality improvement activities.
Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (required).
Certification: Must hold and maintain one of the following active certifications:
AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistants
NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing
NHA – National Healthcareer Association
AMT – American Medical Technologists
Experience: Prior experience in an internal medicine or adult primary care setting is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of chronic disease processes and adult preventive care
Excellent clinical and administrative skills
Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR) and patient documentation
High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational ability
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
