Responsibilities

  • Completes tasks in decontamination area including processing instruments, disassembly and cleaning of Herman Miller lockers and cleaning of nursing unit equipment.
  • Completes tasks in linen area by appropriately folding linen and assembling packs.
  • Assembles trays of instruments and wraps individual instruments for surgery.
  • Completes tasks in packaging area including wrapping pan sets and trays and individual instruments for nursing units and other hospital areas.
  • Assists in keeping Ortho Fracture room clean.
  • Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Functions in day-to-day and emergency situations in accordance with nursing standards and as assigned by the manager/charge nurse.
  • Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
  • Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, and other related activities.
  • Assists with supply and inventory control as assigned by manager/charge nurse.

Qualifications

Education:                  

High school diploma or G.E.D.

 

Skills/Abilities:            

Ability to learn concepts of and demonstrate, sterilization, disinfection, packaging of surgical instruments, making packs and processing surgical trays.  

Ability to exercise good judgment, maintains effective interpersonal relationships and adapts to change. 

Ability to organize work.
