Coordinates assigned facility improvement and remodeling projects, works with staff throughout the facility to successfully complete projects. Using a defined process, project will include scope definition and clarification, cost estimating, assistance with funding approval and coordination of project completion.  Appropriate documentation and financial accounting related to each assigned project is expected. Proper execution of the functions will ensure high quality patient care at the lowest possible impact cost to UnityPoint Health – Waterloo Market.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to consistently meet department work schedule.
  • Assist departments through project requests; involve IT, Facilities, Finance, Foundation, Administration, Materials, contractors, local authorities and user department personnel to assure accurate scope definition, cost estimating and project documentation. Develop and track budgets and timelines for each assigned project.
  • Handles signage for UnityPoint Health Waterloo.
  • Communicates effectively with hospital personnel to obtain product specifications; evaluates new products and makes recommendations regarding all acquisitions for the hospital.
  • Evaluates hospital procurement activities for the acquisition or supplies, services, equipment, furniture and designated leases and contracts for appropriate approval.
  • Acts as a prudent buyer at meetings or committees engaged in activities relating to purchasing as requested by the Director Regional Facility Operations.
  • Consult with and provide counsel to all hospital personnel to facilitate timely acquisition of furniture and equipment needs and provide necessary information and guidance as requested.
  • Issue routine purchase order requests for hospital-approved furniture and minor equipment, insuring purchase orders are completed accurately and appropriately.
  • Facilitate refurbishing or replacement of furnishings, window treatments and wall/floor coverings.
  • Proficient in all relevant information systems.
  • Provides Director Regional Facility Operations with information on forecasts, trends or other conditions which may affect UnityPoint Health – Waterloo’s operations or budget planning.
  • Coordinates the utilization and compliance to UPH System contracts. Negotiate pricing agreements with various manufacturers pertaining to furnishings and finishes that are not covered under a system agreement.
  • Coordinates with Infection Prevention for Infection Control Risk Assessments.
  • Performs Alternative Life Safety Measures and Preconstruction Risk Assessments as needed.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. in Management or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in coordinating all phases of construction projects.
  • Proficient in understanding architectural drawings.
  • Must have a working knowledge of space planning and furniture specifications.
  • Work experience in a related industry may substitute.
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of hospital, health system, and vendor personnel including executives, clinicians, and staff.
  • Travel to other UnityPoint Health hospitals as required.
  • Other duties as assigned; work will vary with changing needs and priorities.
