The PACE Physical Therapist Assistant functions as an integral part of the PACE Therapy team and has responsibility for treating participants requiring services associated with physical therapy. The Physical Therapist Assistant is expected to communicate with the therapist and other members of the PACE IDT regarding the participants treatment and progress and deliver service in collaboration with the policies and procedures governing the delivery of patient care by the PACE Team.

Patient Care
• Assists Licensed Physical Therapist in patient treatments through implementation of modalities, exercise, ambulation, patient and family teaching, balance strategies, and activities of daily living.
• Carries out treatment plan and coordinates with patient, family, significant others and care team.
Monitors patient’s response and modifies treatment to achieve goals.
• Documents the results of patient’s assessment, treatment, follow-up and termination of services
• Reviews and analyzes quality appropriateness of the physical therapy services delivered. Reports associated problems to supervisor as indicated.
• Works within Supervsion guidelines of Physical Therapist Assistant in accordance with state licensure laws.
Clinical Excellence
• Accepts responsibility for maintaining and developing personal and professional skills and knowledge related to the work area assigned.
• Shares new learning with peers to support the clinical skill and program development of peers.
Quality of Care
• Assists Licensed Physical Therapist in the oversight of Physical Therapist Assistant students or interns as assigned.
Education
Graduate from an accredited physical therapist assistant program
License(s)/Certification(s)
Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Iowa
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
Valid auto insurance
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Must read, write, speak and comprehend English.
• Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
Other
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
