Overview

Shift:  Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

 

Provides community-based mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and consultation for individuals referred by a wide range of sources including hospitals, first responders, jails, attorneys, and community services. Conducts evaluations for potential involuntary commitment, including diagnosis and service recommendations. Delivers direct services to individuals in the field and within county jails, while also engaging with patients, families, and support systems to reduce barriers and facilitate care. Offers brief counseling, advocacy, and connects clients with care coordination and appropriate referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Receives referrals from throughout the community which includes but is not limited to the following: hospitals, first responders, jails, attorneys, mobile crisis outreach, community services, CCBHC services and so on.
  • Provides direct Community-Based (in the field) mental health assessments, intervention, and consultation to individuals identified by the court system as in need of a potential involuntary commitment.
  • Evaluates each client for diagnosis, recommends appropriate service (including interviewing client and accompanying family or friends; providing crisis intervention; arriving at recommendation.
  • Interacts with patients, family, and support systems to reduce barriers and promote progression of care. Provides assessment, counseling, information and referral, advocacy services, and other resource assistance as indicated.
  • Provides direct mental health services to identified individuals incarcerated within a county jail in the service region.
  • Provides assistance with linkage to necessary resources in the community (entitlements, employers, housing, etc.)

Qualifications

Education:

  • Requires a master's degree in a behavioral healthcare services related field.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Provisional or Independent license in both Illinois and Iowa
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
