Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports day-to-day clinical operations in a busy family medicine clinic at Southglen. This role involves assisting providers in delivering quality, patient-centered care to individuals and families across all age groups. The CMA is responsible for rooming patients, administering medications, performing clinical procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Room patients, take and record vital signs, and gather health history

  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments

  • Administer injections, immunizations, and medications per provider orders

  • Prepare and collect lab specimens

  • Accurately document clinical information in the EHR

  • Coordinate follow-up care, referrals, and prescription refills

  • Support front desk tasks as needed, including scheduling and patient communication

  • Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and ensure proper equipment function

  • Uphold HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program

  • Certified Medical Assistant credential through one of the following:

    • AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)

    • NHA (National Healthcareer Association)

    • CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant)

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

  • Proficient in use of EHR systems and clinical workflows

  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work with patients of all ages in a fast-paced environment
