Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered Family Medicine Clinic in West Des Moines, IA. As a vital member of our healthcare team, the CMA will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff to provide high-quality care across the lifespan—from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and room patients, taking and recording vital signs and health history

  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments

  • Administer immunizations, injections, and medications as directed by the provider

  • Collect and prepare specimens for lab testing

  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR)

  • Perform basic triage and patient education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans

  • Manage phone calls, messages, and prescription refills under provider guidance

  • Maintain exam room cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure equipment is sanitized and functional

  • Support front desk staff with scheduling, check-in/check-out, and insurance verification as needed

  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and all regulatory and clinic policies

Qualifications

  • Certification: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program (AAMA, AMT, or equivalent)

  • Licensure: Must hold active certification/license in the state of Iowa

  • Experience: Prior experience in a family medicine or primary care setting preferred

  • Technology: Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., EPIC or similar)

  • Skills: Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills; commitment to excellent patient care
