The Peer Recovery Specialist serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides recovery oriented in- home community-based services for adults with mental illnesses in the community. The Peer Recovery Specialist must be a consumer who is in recovery from a mental illness and has (or is able to within 6 months of hire) complete 20 hours of training and passed a competency exam based on that Peer Support Training. The Peer Recovery Specialist will assist in care coordination efforts, health promotion, individual and family support, referrals to community agencies. This individual also provides care to individuals and uses their own unique, life-altering experience to guide and support others who are in some form of recovery.
