Responsibilities

  • Provides spiritual assessments, emotional support, crisis intervention, grief ministry, and end-of-life care to patients and families.

  • Collaborates with hospital staff to address patients' spiritual care needs and ensure consistent on-call coverage.

  • Leads or assists with liturgical services, worship, and religious rites as appropriate.

  • Engages in professional development, hospital in-service programs, and relevant community education efforts.

  • Builds and maintains relationships with local clergy and faith communities to support holistic patient care.

  • Participates in trauma responses and emergency codes as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • College graduate. Seminary or equivalent theological/ministerial education.
  • 4 Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of healthcare experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons Certification by a professional chaplaincy organization within two years of hire.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to function effectively within team environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain interpersonal relationships, adapt to change, evaluate critically and think creatively and be able to organize and plan effectively.
  • Able to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
  • Ability to maintain documentation of services provided.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to respond to spiritual needs of patients, families and employees.
