Overview

This position is charged with the management of maintenance operations for all properties managed by UnityPoint Health in the Cedar Rapids Region.  This includes management of the Plant Operations maintenance staff, preventative maintenance programs, and corrective maintenance programs. Finally, this position will be responsible for performance improvement planning and activities for the Plant Operations Department.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Management over Facility Operations maintenance staff.
  • Management over preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance
  • Support department with personnel functions including hiring, discipline, counseling, succession, and salary administration. Consult and inform as necessary the Human Resource Department. Seek supervisor personnel with the qualifications and competence to support the skill level required and the goals established by the department.
  • Monitor staffing to ensure operation within established operating budget guidelines
  • Monitors and improves facilities work order system to ensure accurate and complete performance of team members along with accuracy of data in the system related to Facilities.
  • With the Director of Facilities, identifies and requests facility improvements and equipment.

Performance Improvement

  • Oversight of preventative maintenance programs for Facility Operations.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. This includes the oversight of facility-related policies and procedures, the compliance and correction of systems as it relates to these regulatory bodies, and the tracking of results to demonstrate acceptable performance.

Budgetary Responsibility

  • This position will have budgetary responsibility over Plant Operations, particularly the cost and efficient management of utilities usage at the hospital and related facilities
  • Includes budgetary management of Capital Project related to Plant Operations

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in related field.
  • 5 years of experience in facility maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
