We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Specialty Nurse (LPN or RN) to join our busy OB/GYN Clinic in West Des Moines, Iowa. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment, supporting women's health services including obstetric, gynecological, and reproductive health. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure seamless patient experiences.
Perform nursing assessments and collect patient histories.
Assist providers with OB/GYN exams, procedures (e.g., pap smears, colposcopies, IUD insertions), and in-office treatments.
Provide prenatal and postnatal patient education and counseling.
Administer medications, injections (including vaccines and hormone therapies), and monitor for adverse reactions.
Manage follow-up communications with patients regarding test results, medication refills, and care instructions.
Coordinate care with labs, imaging, and specialty providers as needed.
Document patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked and maintain infection control standards.
Participate in team huddles and quality improvement initiatives.
Required:
Active Iowa LPN or RN license in good standing.
Current BLS certification (Basic Life Support).
Previous experience in women's health, OB/GYN, or a related specialty preferred.
Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic experience a plus).
Preferred:
1+ year of nursing experience in an outpatient clinic setting.
Familiarity with prenatal care workflows and common gynecological procedures.
