Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM with potential half day

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Specialty Nurse (RN) to join our Endocrinology team in Waukee and Des Moines, Iowa. This role supports patient care, education, and care coordination for individuals with complex endocrine conditions, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, and hormone imbalances. The nurse will collaborate closely with providers, patients, and families to ensure quality, evidence-based care in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Clinical Care & Patient Support

  • Provide direct patient care, triage, and clinical support for office visits and procedures.

  • Assist with care coordination, referrals, and prior authorizations.

  • Deliver patient and family education related to endocrine conditions, treatment plans, and self-management.

  • Document all care accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Participate in the development and evaluation of clinical standards and care pathways.

  • Maintain a safe, compliant environment per CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.

Team Collaboration & Operations

  • Serve as a clinical resource for patients, staff, and providers.

  • Collaborate with community resources and other disciplines to support patient needs.

  • Attend clinic meetings and maintain awareness of clinic and organizational updates.

  • Assist in quality improvement efforts and implementation of best practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Current Iowa RN license (or IL/WI if applicable).
  • Meets competency requirements per policy.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Mandatory Reporter certification required or must obtain upon hire. 
  •  

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required.

  • 5 years preferred, ideally in endocrinology or chronic disease management.

  • Specialty certification preferred.

 

Certifications:

  • BLS/CPR certification required.

  • Valid driver’s license required for any work-related travel.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems; strong data entry skills.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and patient education abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Multicultural sensitivity and commitment to patient-centered care.

  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

 

Other:

  • Use of standard clinical and office equipment required.
