Certified Nursing Assistant - Ambulatory Surgery

Fulltime: Day Shift

Locations: Muscatine, IA

 

Performs clerical duties in the nursing unit and assists in coordinating the efforts of the healthcare team members by receiving and disseminating information. Functions cooperatively with health care team to assist patients with activities of daily living, under the direct supervision of RN in the Short Stay Unit

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical duties related to admission of patient.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, department director, shift director, co-workers and physicians.
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  • Prepares and stock patient rooms daily
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible and organized.
  • Answers telephone/intercom in a polite manner and give information to callers or communicates information to the appropriate personnel/family.
  • Provides lifting and turning of patients, assisting in bedpan placement, urinal or commode and ambulation under the supervision of RN.
  • Transports patients within the facility and upon discharge
  • Performs all other duties as assigned under the supervision of the RN
  • Uses Trinity Muscatine Business Management System to assist staff and patients in calling out opportunities and problem solving
  • Order supplies and forms as needed. Assist nursing staff in keeping department clean and organized.
  • Collects and compiles data for monthly reports

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one or more of the following qualifications:

 

  • Active CNA certification listed on the Iowa or Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry;
  • Active CNA certification from another state, with pending certification in the state of employment;
  • Inactive CNA certification listed on a Healthcare Worker Registry, with current employment as a CNA in a hospital or similar non-skilled/long-term care facility (proof of past certification and current employment required);
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program awaiting NCLEX re-examination;
  • Current Trinity Medical Center employees working as a PCT and grandfathered into the role (must maintain continuous employment or obtain recertification).

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

 

Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities.
