Our growing OB/GYN clinic in Des Moines, IA is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our women’s health team. This role supports the delivery of exceptional patient care by assisting physicians and nurse practitioners with clinical and administrative duties in a busy outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of women’s health, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing respectful, empathetic care to all patients.
Patient Preparation: Greet and prepare patients for exams, including obtaining vital signs, patient histories, and chief complaints.
Clinical Assistance: Assist providers with OB/GYN procedures and exams (e.g., Pap smears, pelvic exams, prenatal checkups, in-office procedures).
Specimen Collection: Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing (e.g., urine, blood, cervical swabs), and ensure proper documentation and labeling.
Charting & Documentation: Accurately update and maintain electronic medical records (EMR) with patient data, procedure notes, and provider instructions.
Patient Education: Provide information and instructions to patients regarding medications, birth control methods, prenatal care, and follow-up appointments.
Inventory Management: Monitor and restock clinical supplies and ensure equipment is sanitized and maintained according to infection control protocols.
Scheduling & Communication: Assist with appointment scheduling, prior authorizations, and responding to patient phone calls and messages.
Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited program (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, or similar).
Licensure: Must hold current CMA certification and be eligible to work in Iowa.
Experience: Previous experience in OB/GYN or women’s health strongly preferred but not required.
Skills: Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR), with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Other: Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a compassionate approach in a patient-centered environment.
