Full Time - Nights

Monday-Friday;10 Hour Shifts

  • Assists the Nurse Manager in the management of day-to-day Emergency Department operations and supports employees who are providing patient care to ensure the best clinical outcomes
  • ANM will assume all responsibilities of the nurse manager in his/her absence

Responsibilities

Talent Development 

  • Hires, fires, evaluates, disciplines staff within defined organizational parameters 
  • Provides specific and timely feedback to employees to improve performance 
  • Monitors and manages variances from expected performances 
  • Plans and implements employee developments actions/initiatives with employees 
  • Develops and implements action plans to address and correct “fit” issues with lead/employee staff 

Resources and Revenue Enhancement Use 

  • Manages cost per unit of activities per established budge targets 
  • Understands all aspects of revenue generations for areas of responsibilities 
  • Monitors charges to assure all charges are entered accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Assures staff is properly trained to identify and enter all charges for services delivered. 
  • Evaluates the cost/revenue equation. 
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement in revenue production and cost reduction. 

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care 

  • Engages staff to use data to improve satisfaction 
  • Monitor progress, identifies variations from expected and manages improvement processes.  
  • Implements improvement strategies. 
  • Engages staff to use data to improve quality PI concepts and tools 
  • Monitor progress made to meet/exceed quality targets. 
  • Identifies variations from expected outcomes and manages PI processes to improve 
  • Manages processes, identifies variation and resolves/fixes 
  • Anticipates issues and involves Lead/Staff in correction plan. 
  • Engages staff to use data to improve safety using PI concepts and tools 
  • Monitors progress made to meet/exceed safety targets 

Basic UPH Performance Criteria  

  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. 
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. 
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. 
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, Joint Commission, IDPH, CARF, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. 
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. 
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuseBrings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staffTakes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. 

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Graduate of accredited nursing program with BSN Degree
  • Expierence: 
    • Prefer 3 years of hospital clinical experience
  • License(s)/Certifications(s): 
    • Current licensure in good stand to practice as an RN in primary state
    • Must apply within 90 days for license in a seconday state
    • Must possess and maintain currenct Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
