The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) assists the Nurse Manager in the management of day-to-day ICU operations and supports employees who are providing patient care to ensure the best clinical outcomes. Additionally, the ANM will assume all responsibilities of the nurse manager in his/her absence. Responsibilities

Talent Development: 

  • Hires, fires, evaluates, disciplines staff within defined organizational parameters 
  • Provides specific and timely feedback to employees to improve performance 
  • Monitors and manages variances from expected performances 
  • Plans and implements employee developments actions/initiatives with employees 
  • Develops and implements action plans to address and correct “fit” issues with lead/employee staff 



    Resources and Revenue Enhancement Use:
         

    • Assists with managing case costs/visit costs. 
    • Monitors OnBase invoices to ensure accuracy. 
    • Assures staff is properly trained to identify and enter all charges for services delivered. 
    • Monitors and assists staff with timeliness of charting/corrections. 
    • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement in revenue production and cost reduction. 

  • Clinical Excellence/Patient Care 

    • Participates in staffing 50% of their 1.0 FTE. 
    • Supervises nursing/patient care activities within their scope. 
    • Anticipates barriers to satisfactions and plans to prevent. 
    • Implements improvement strategies. 
    • Observes techniques and services rendered by nursing staff to ensure adherence to hospital guidelines. 
    • Observes nursing care and visits patients to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed and treatment administered in accordance with physician instructions. 
    • Interacts professionally with all patients and family members. 
    • Implements strategies and initiatives to achieve established safety goals 

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of accredited nursing program 

BSN Preferred


Experience:
Three years acute care experience. 

Prefer three (3) year experience in Surgical Services or demonstrated clinical efficiency. 

 

Licensure:

Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa and Illinois. 

Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
