UnityPoint Health-Trinity is expanding our Nursing leadership team in Acute Care Nursing. This added leadership position reflects our continued growth and commitment to excellence in patient care.

As the Director of Acute Care Nursing, you will provide visionary and operational leadership across our Acute Care services. You’ll be responsible for developing and executing business, financial, personnel, and marketing strategies that drive growth and exceed patient and provider expectations.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee all aspects of Acute Care operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, strong financial performance, and a competitive market presence.
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Directors to enhance clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Serve as a key representative of the Acute Care service line within Trinity Health System and the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management: 

  • Displays knowledge of current and future direction of areas of acute care treatment especially as it relates to the application of new technology and innovations.   
  • Serves as a resource to senior management on strategic issues impacting the Acute Care service line.    
  • Prepares, implements, monitors and reports achievement of strategic and operational goals.   
  • Establishes standards of job performance and holds staff accountable.   
  • Keeps management team, physicians and staff informed of changes which impact the current and future delivery of services.   
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching and disciplining staff. Ensures competent staff by providing development and training. 


    Safety and Quality:
     

    • Exhibits strong commitment to patient care and high-quality services and outcomes. 
    • Serves as a strong customer advocate.   
    • Provides a safe environment for employees to perform their work.   
    • Provides administrative direction to improve performance, based on monitoring and reporting of short- and long-term outcomes.     
    • Serves as a liaison for physicians, providers, families, and patients.   
    • Demonstrates prompt and immediate follow-up and resolution of all untoward events and/or negative outcomes occurring within the Acute Care service line. 

      Service: 

      • Monitors patient satisfaction with services.   
      • Monitors survey results and communicates results to employees and explores ways to improve satisfaction with care and services.   
      • Maintains visibility and ongoing dialogue with physicians to address issues.   
      • Communicates effectively with employees. Creates an environment conducive to the development of clinical competence, self-confidence, professional growth, and job satisfaction.   


        Financial:
         

        • Collaborates with Financial Services to develop a realistic budget.   
        • Directs business development to enhance the financial stability of the Acute Care service line.   
        • Provides advice and recommendations in the capital budget planning process.   
        • Monitors supply expenses. Works with management team to resolve variances.   
        • Demonstrates innovation in the development and implementation of cost reduction strategies. 
        • Monitors productivity to ensure a balance of fiscal responsibility to provision of services to patients and physicians.     
        • Performs marketing services and encourages participation in community needs assessments, educational programs, health screenings and promotion of overall health and wellness resulting in a clear/positive public image of Emergency services for physicians and community.  
        • Promotes delivery of outreach programs and services to meet the needs of smaller communities and outlying regions.    

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or Nursing 
Master’s Degree in Nursing or Business preferred.

 

Experience:
Five years’ experience in middle or higher level management
