The Executive Director is responsible for the effective operation of Surgical and Orthopaedic Services at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital. Position also includes responsibility for employed CRNA’s at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Laser Eye Center, and Iowa Methodist Medical Center Endoscopy.
As a member of the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines operations team, the Executive Director will lead the assigned service line and the team’s commitment to quality, service, growth and fiscal accountability and will be held accountable for the accomplishment of the results as indicated in the annual strategic plan. The Executive Director creates a vision and strategic direction for the service lines, which supports the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of UPH-DM.
With the support of the administrative team and the strategic plan, the Executive Director assumes responsibility for the creation, development and implementation of new programs; seeking avenues of growth and new opportunities; guides the development of a patient centered service, which sets the standards in quality, service and cost. As the expert in the business of the service line, serves as an excellent resource and representative for the service line among health care providers, partners and students affiliated with the system.
The Executive Director promotes an environment, which encourages team members to gain new skills that advance the service line as well as themselves, and provides an environment that promotes trust and decision-making at the staff level.

Experience:
| · Five years of progressively more responsible management positions in hospital, outpatient, or clinical environment. · Ability to develop positive relationships with physicians, management, and community. · Excellent results in improving performance. · Experience as an excellent communicator, manager, and developer of people and programs. |

License(s)/Certification(s):
| · Must hold a current licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa. · Professional certification in a specialty applicable to the position is preferred. · Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. |

| · Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. · Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and web browser. |
