Under general supervision, oversees workflow of day-to-day duties of the school health office; performs services as assigned by the school registered nurse and in accordance with written policy. Responsibilities will vary according to the school health program.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for students needing health assistance and maintains good working relationships with students, parents, staff members and administration.
  • Provides care to students by taking vital readings, preforming CPR/First Aid, diabetic testing, and reporting illnesses and injuries to school nurse as warranted.
  • Assists school nurse with administering medication to students as delegated and in accordance with written policy
  • Prepares and/or performs health screenings as assigned.
  • Ensures health office is well-maintained and functional
  • Maintain Student immunization and health records, along with class lists.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working with children preferred
  • Must complete Iowa Department of Education requirements on Medication Administration
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
