The Stroke and Sepsis Program Manager coordinates the care of patients experiencing stroke and stroke-like symptoms and care of patients at risk for or diagnosed with sepsis.
Mentors and role models high quality care of patients experiencing stroke or sepsis and compliance with the core measures.
The successful program manager will strive for improved outcomes/measures, develop positive working relationships with the multidisciplinary network of stakeholders, and maintain a proactive approach to preventing and treating stroke and sepsis to decrease possible disability or death.

Team Collaboration:
| Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position. | Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. |
Education:
|
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or related field. · Maintain no less than 8 hours of education focusing on cerebrovascular disease and treatment of acute stroke patients annually. |
· Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred. |
Experience:
| · Minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience in caring for patients who are critically ill. · Previous experience with quality improvement processes and analytical skills. | · Experience caring for patients with stroke or sepsis. |
License(s)/Certification(s):
| · Current Iowa License to practice as a RN. · Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. | · Specialty RN certification preferred (i.e., SCRN or CNRN) |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
| · Read, writes, speaks fluent English. · Must be able to use technology to manage data, evaluate patient care processes and communicate within UPH-DM and the community at large. · Must have proven experience in leading change among diverse groups or across departmental boundaries. |
