As a vital link in the communication process of Trinity Medical Center, the switchboard operator has responsibility for processing all incoming and outgoing calls via the Medical Centers main switchboard.  All interaction must be timely and courteous, maintaining confidentiality at all times.  Ability to respond calmly but quickly to all codes/drills is required in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming and places outgoing calls promptly and courteously, maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of code procedures and paging system, completing and logging all codes quickly and accurately. 
  • Utilization of Vocera and Blackboard Connect for communication of codes. 
  • Utilization of computer with Windows Word, Excel and Outlook for communication and logs of emergency codes. 
  • Maintains current phone listings for employees, hospitals, internal departments, and on-call after hour’s schedule. 
  • Monitors and logs security alert and facilities alert panels as well as keys for other departments. 
  • Provides information after hours about hospital policies and activities as appropriate.  Serves as a resource to callers for internal contact needs. 
  • Demonstrates familiarity with all physical aspects of Trinity facilities and is able to correctly direct to desired location over the phone. 
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of computer system as well as internet as it pertains to accessing information or services. 
  • Listens with the ability to anticipate problems and appropriately intervene. 
  • Maintains and logs all patient belongings in safe accurately.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Experience:Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
