RN- Medical Review Coordinator- Quality Improvement

Responsible for retrieval and review of information from medical records for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of care provided by the medical staff of UnityPoint Health-Allen. Abstraction of various measures for required reporting to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission. Assist as requested with various medical staff functions and risk management review including variances, near misses, and sentinel alerts and events. Will assist Director with other assignments on an as needed basis.

Medical records review, data retrieval, and preparation of reports based on data.Conduct reviews as requested for specific areas as needed.
Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and compliance with core measures. Research and recommend strategies to improve compliance.
Represents Unity Point Health (UPH) in a professional manner.Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel.
Works effectively and efficiently with large databases and spreadsheets.
Assures on time preparation, submission, and analysis of required reports.
Working in cooperation with the Supervisor and Director, supports providers and leadership with initiating, implementing, and evaluating improvement initiatives to meet the quality targets identified in the Hospital Performance Improvement Plan.
Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, OSHA, CMS and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care.Recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance.
Collaborates with physicians, leadership, and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.Maintains current professional expertise.
Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years recent experience as an RN working in general medical/surgical areas.
Broad knowledge of disease processes. 1-3 years recent experience in Quality Improvement.
RN Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa.
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Current certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
Proficient with email, Microsoft office computer skills.
Knowledge of TJC and CMS accreditation standards, operations, and principles preferred.
