Development Coordinator - Hospice

UnityPoint Health – Allen Foundation

Shift: Part-time; Exempt; Occasionally subjected to irregular hours

The Hospice Development Coordinator is an integral part of the Allen Foundation. This person will work daily in a supportive role to the Executive Director and staff charged with raising funds primarily for UnityPoint Hospice – Waterloo, Iowa. The position will manage personal accounts and projects from start to finish in a timely and accurate manner. Duties include but are not limited to development projects and campaigns such as Hops for Hospice, the annual hospice mail appeal campaign, administration of the IMPACT grant program and various other donor engagement activities.

Responsibilities

Hops for Hospice

  • Prepare event budget to be approved by Foundation and Hospital administration.
  • Recruit a volunteer committee to help with event implementation.
  • Secure sponsors to support event costs.
  • Work with UPH marketing and Creative Services to promote event, sell tickets, and/or solicit donations.
  • All planning, coordination of vendors and entertainment and implementation of the event will be the responsibility of this position.
  • Work with Foundation Executive Director, Waterloo Hospice Administrator and Foundation Board to properly utilize revenue from Hops for Hospice.

 Research, Cultivate, Steward and Solicit Donors in Portfolio

  • Work with other Foundation staff to identify, cultivate and solicit donors and prospects in support of the Foundation.
  • Utilize a variety of stewardship outreach to show our donors just how much they matter.
  • This includes both Hospice donors as well as other donors that align with current Foundation priorities.

Oversee the IMPACT Grant Program

  • Work with the Foundation Executive Director to promote this program among staff and the greater community.
  • Recruit a volunteer committee and volunteer grant reviewers.
  • Prepare grant packets for review by volunteer readers and Finance.
  • Coordinate and lead regular committee meetings to review and recommend proposed projects.
  • Notify both successful and non-successful applicants.

Direct and Coordinate in Conjunction with Foundation Staff, Hospice-Specific Annual Appeal

  • Generate mailing list.
  • Work with Creative Services to develop content and design direct mail appeal.

Hospice Office Duties

  • Administer the GIFT Fund.
  • Attend regular staff meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 or more years of fundraising/development experience is required.
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
  • Superior collaboration and communication skills; ability to build relationships and consult with all levels within an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to do quality work with evidence of ability in raising funds.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Fluent computer knowledge as well as experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience with hosting, working on or volunteering for a major community event.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
