The VNA Department Secretary position works directly within VNA programming providing administrative support services per program guidance. Services can include telephone and visitor reception, data entry, knowledge of agency programs and services, and accepting initial referral information.

Responsibilities

Patient Care and Delivery of Services

  • Understands impact of culture on patient’s health decisions; uses that knowledge to improve health through education of patients and families
  • Participates in program check in and interagency staff meetings
  • Completes all program trainings, meetings, and educational events
  • Performs telephone and visitor reception, and facilitates effective communication within the agency
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within departments and external contacts
  • Maintains working knowledge of agency programs and services, provides basic information in response to questions, and accepts initial referral information
  • Assists with communication and coordination of client appointments, clinic schedules, and program services
  • Performs opening and closing of building common areas
  • Compiles and enters various program data and service information in a timely manner to facilitate completion and entry of reports
  • Interacts with other hospital departments and community agencies to coordinate services and agency operations

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 

  • 1 - 3 years of administrative support experience
