Ambulatory Clinical Educator

Hours: Monday-Friday daytime (32 hours per week)
Occasional evening or weekend for training.
This position supports our UPaH Waterloo and Cedar Rapids locations. Will work a mix of remote and in person based on training needs and will have some travel
between the locations.
The Ambulatory Clinical Educator (ACE) performs activities related to orientation, training, and development of clinical staff in the ambulatory space. The ACE assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical education activities/programs for clinical staff utilizing data and quality metrics to drive clinical outcomes as well as supporting clinical student learning in their assigned region. Additionally, supports non-clinical education as needed.

Education and Training Program Oversight
Manages and delivers the regions’ education and training activities in accordance with defined strategic priorities for clinical service lines.
o Identifies, and coordinates the education and training needs for the region under the direction of the Clinical Education Department leadership.
o Assists with the development and implementation of strategic planning initiatives under the direction of the Clinical Education Manager.
o Partner with regional ambulatory leadership, committees, councils, and the Clinical Education Manager to identify and educate on new and emerging services.
o In partnership with Human Resources and regional leadership, coordinates and facilitates clinical education for new employee orientation.
o Coordinates and maintains standardized internal education courses for clinical employees in partnership with other ambulatory departments.
Student Educational Experiences
Coordinates and communicates requests for student experiences in the ambulatory space in partnership with Talent Acquisition, Compliance, and Contracting per a standardized process, which includes:
o Review all requests for student experience requests from approved educational institutions
o Validation that a current contract is in place with affiliate to support student request.
o Collaboration with education institutions to support educational placement requests
o Collaboration with leaders to identify appropriate staff for optimal learning experiences.
o Evaluation and reporting on student experiences to department and affiliate leadership
Subject Matter Expert
Expected Competency Proficiency
o Maintains knowledge of current and anticipated future of industry standards, evidence based practice regulated training requirements and continuing education requirements
o Delivers competency based programs for clinical staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge
o In coordination with Compliance and the Clinical Education Manager, evaluates learning needs utilizing data and quality metrics to drive clinical outcomes and reduce risk.
o Serves as resource for onsite training of specific education

o Partners with regional affiliates to provide education on standardized use of clinical resources across UPH care continuum.
Education: BSN
Experience:
5+ years in ambulatory nursing, precepting, or training experience
A Master’s Degree in Nursing may be substituted for 2 years of required experience
License(s)/Certification(s):
Current professional license for the state in which the candidate works.
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
BLS Instructor within the first 12 months of hire and maintenance of training through annual sustainability activities.
Mandatory Reporter
