Shifts: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, weekend and holiday rotations in Acute Care

Responsibilities

Physical Therapists treat patients from newborn to geriatric and work under the referral of a physician. They are responsible to evaluate, establish appropriate plan of care and provide needed treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and independence and prevent disability.

  • Evaluates and treats physical therapy patients under physician orders in the outpatient and acute settings
  • Develops treatment plans for all patients assigned to case load
  • Maintains appropriate documentation in the patient’s medical record
  • Ongoing commitment to reducing costs and improving productivity in the physical therapy department
  • Maintains positive relationships with the health care team, patient and family
  • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with all appropriate members of the patient’s healthcare team

Qualifications

Education:                

  • Graduate of a Physical Therapist education program approved by The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), a successor organization of CAPTE, or an education program outside the United States determined to be substantially equivalent to physical therapist entry-level education in the United States by a credentials evaluation organization approved by the American Physical Therapy Association. 

  • Passed an examination for Physical Therapists approved by the state in which physical therapy services are provided.

Licensure:                 

  • Physical therapy licensure in Iowa or eligible for licensure in Iowa.  
  • Valid Drivers License

Experience:               

  • Entry level/new graduate acceptable

Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer concepts
  • Ability to meet time frames for work completion
  • Effective skills for teamwork/team facilitation
  • Ability to evaluate critically and think creatively
  • Able to read and understand a variety of patient related documentation
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and treat rehabilitative needs of patients relative to development and age
