Overview

Location: Onsite - Methodist Hospital - Des Moines, IA 

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm 

 

The Regional Service Manager (RSM) is the primary and central point of contact within their region for specific IT

related needs.

 

The RSM will cultivate a positive, high performance culture for IT regional service team members. Direct responsibility

over the Client Device Support Supervisor and Customer Service Liaison positions.

 

The RSM work closely with IT Management team, regional executive and management team, Regional Chief Medical

Information Officer (R-CMIO) and regional clinical informatics to facilitate:

· Effective and clear communication between UnityPoint Health system services IT and their region

· Appropriate prioritization of regional and operational IT needs.

· A commitment to our FOCUS values within UnityPoint Health.

Responsibilities

Regional Leadership/Local Strategy/CMIO

  • Understands regional strategy and the associated IT implications. Ensures this is appropriately communicated to system IT.
  • Participates in a monthly one-on-one with assigned regional leader.
  • Participates regularly at regional senior leadership team meetings and/or management team meetings to provide bi-directional communication between regional leadership and system IT.
  • Communicates IT strategy appropriately to their region.
  • Works in partnership with the CMIO, regional informatics and executive leadership to develop and maintain the regional IT priority list. Ensure high level coordination, communication and collaboration of projects throughout the region.
  • Works with regional leadership to understand IT application in use within the region and ensure they are aligned with regional strategy.
  • Co-leads with the CMIO a regularly scheduled regional IT a cross disciplinary team that provides regional leadership around IT. (ex. ITAT, ITOC, etc)
  • Ensures regional compliance with information protection and contract terms.
  • Services as an IT representative on regional committees.
  • Develops strategies and methodology to implement efficient and effective methods to furnish healthcare providers with accurate and timely information as it relates to the department.
  • Works jointly with project management for effective implementation of enterprise solutions

 

Escalations/Support/Rounding 

  • Ensure analytics reports related regional IT needs are appropriately reviewed and responded to within SLA.
  • Establishes regular proactive IT rounding schedules for both hospital and ambulatory departments within the region.
  • Ensures IT services are provided as per established service levels. Ensures SLA’s are completed for all high priority applications.
  • Monitors adherence to Service Level metrics and develops, executes and communicates service improvement plans to customers.

 

IT Departmental Work 

  • Engagement and knowledge of Clinical Prioritization, Clinical Service Group, Business Support, and Technical teams project priority and roadmap discussions.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled one-on-one with IT Director Regional Service.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled IT management team meetings.
  • Participates in RSM and CIO team meeting.
  • Participates in IT Committee or assigned workgroup.

 

IT Regional Service Team 

  • Maintains a culture that will result in higher improvements in employee retention, satisfaction and job growth.
  • Performs performance appraisals with regional IT CDS supervisor and customer service liaison.
  • Leads, engages, and develops an environment for staff growth and development, career planning, productivity and satisfaction by conducting staff meetings and one-on-one meetings at least monthly with all direct reports.
  • Responsible for planning, budgeting and staffing IT regional service team to meet the long-range plans and budgets, which contribute to the effectiveness of the department in accordance with organizational goals
  • Analyzes available financial data, investigates budget variances and initiates corrective action or justifies non-adherencce.
  • Identifies data and trends to be used for future budget planning.
  • Prepares valid rationale and justification for budget request. Applies current cost containment concepts.
  • Establishes productivity guidelines, monitors and adjusts to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Facilitates the planning and monitoring of quality improvement activities ensuring any necessary corrective action in the department.
  • Assures that all job descriptions within the area of responsibility clarify and delineate position expectations.
  • Establish effective mechanisms of communication with staff and the management team to foster an environment of openness, trust, and teamwork.
  • Responsible for creating a culture of innovation, learning, teamwork and professionalism, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the UnityPoint Health.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific systems.

 

Five years of experience in Information Technology is highly desired. Three years managerial experience is highly desired.

 

Requires highly developed communications skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout the UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.

Possesses excellent writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to understand and communicate concepts to technical and non-technical individuals.

Demonstrates an ability to coordinate and manage large, complex projects and be able to negotiate and build consensus among groups or individuals with diverse interests and function effectively as a team leader in a team environment.

 

Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare industry systems is highly desired.

Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.
