Overview

The adjunct clinical instructor is a non-ranked faculty who provides clinical/laboratory instruction and supervision of students consistent with established standards of care. The adjunct clinical instructor is closely supervised by lead course faculty to ensure proper integration of didactic content into the clinical/laboratory setting based on course and program objectives.

Responsibilities

Teaching: Clinical/Laboratory Instruction

  • Provides clinical/laboratory instruction and supervision for assigned students.
  • Correlates clinical/laboratory education with didactic education.
  • Conducts assessment of clinical/laboratory learning outcomes and evaluates students.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of course and program goals and clinical/laboratory evaluation methods.
  • Assists with academic and personal advising/counseling of students as needed.

 

Administrative and Professionalism

  • Maintains academic and clinical records for all students.
  • Pursues knowledge of educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
  • Maintains knowledge of program policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clinical competency.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional role modeling behavior.
  • Works effectively with meeting deadlines.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately when working with the students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of FERPA and HLC and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding higher education.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions

Education:

 

 

 

Bachelor’s degree in the discipline or related field or shall make annual progress toward the attainment of such a degree

 

Experience:

 

 

 

 

Two years of clinical experience in the discipline or related field

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

·         Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent in radiography.

·         Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire.

·         Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

Instructional, communication, interpersonal, and knowledge of radiology techniques.

 

Other:

 

 

 

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
