The in-hospital paramedic will work assigned shifts in the Emergency Department. During this time the paramedic will be able to function up to their level of certification in the State of Iowa under the direction of Emergency Department Physicians and Registered Nurses, following existing policies and procedures of the Emergency Department as approved by the Emergency Department Medical Director.

Education:
| · Current Paramedic Licensure in the State of Iowa. | · Critical Care Paramedic |
Experience:
| · Minimum of three years’ experience on a paramedic ground service or related experience.
| · Recent Critical Care Paramedic experience with air or ground EMS service Current |
License(s)/Certification(s):
| · Current Paramedic license in the state of Iowa. · Must obtain NIHSS within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter. · Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS according to standards of the American Heart Association obtained withing 90 days of hire. · Completion of four hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually. | · Critical Care Paramedic |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
| · The paramedic must be able to function in collaboration with the Emergency Department nurse to provide the best medical attention to the patient. · Skilled in Arrhythmia interpretation |
