Utility Worker

Community Memorial Hospital

 

Monday - Friday - 7:00A - 3:30P

*rotating weekends, holidays and call coverage

 

The Utility Worker Shall be responsible for general building and grounds maintenance; as well as cleaning and servicing hospital areas (patient rooms, nurses station, emergency room, treatment rooms, laboratory, radiology, public and private lavatories & showers, offices, lounges, meeting rooms, clinic and etc.) to ensure the health and safety of patients, visitors, and employees and to provide a clean, attractive and safe environment with minimal interference to others within the facility to fulfill this position.

Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitizing:

  • Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, hallways ensuring adherence to infection control standards. Disinfect and sanitize high-touch surfaces and medical equipment areas as needed. Clean and disinfect hospital floors, carpets, windows and walls.

Waste Management:

  • Handle and dispose of trash, recyclables, and medical waste according to hospital procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Maintenance:

  • Assist with daily, monthly, and yearly preventative maintenance. Candidate will have on-call responsibilities and must be able to respond within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand verbal and/or written communication.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable and have consistent work habits.
  • Must have a neat and clean appearance with a good mental disposition a nd be in good physical health.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Perform basic math calculations
  • Minimum of high school education or equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and grounds duties.
  • Able to meet the requirements of ADA requirements.
  • Requires some handling of biologically unclean and/or corrosive materials, power equipment, lawn mower and snow blower. May be in frequent contact with water & strong cleaning & disinfecting solutions.
  • Have a valid Iowa drivers license
