Overview

Portfolio Manager-TMO EX

 

Location: Remote with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

 

 

TMO Portfolio Manager is responsible for providing accountable oversight to a portfolio of transformation projects, ensuring that projects within the portfolio are effectively managed, and confirming the work is aligned to strategic objectives. The TMO Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in optimizing resources, managing risks, and enhancing overall project performance. They focus on monitoring the overall performance of the portfolio to ensure it delivers maximum value to the organization. 

 

With a proven track record in project management, strategic prioritization, and continuous improvement, they possess a deep understanding of governance, processes, and tools to ensure successful project execution and alignment with strategic goals. This role requires independent decision-making, problem-solving, and the capability of analyzing complex challenges and delivering innovative solutions with strong emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees a collection of projects and programs to achieve strategic objectives. Ensures that all projects within the portfolio align with UPH’s strategic goals.
  • Provides leadership in the prioritization/integration/implementation of initiatives with cross functional business partners, recognizing the significance of competing priorities and strategies, and adjusting as necessary.
  • Manages interdependencies between projects/activities within the portfolio scope and maintains line of sight to competing priorities with overlapping resource needs.
  • Identifies and assess risks at the portfolio level, ensuring that potential issues are managed proactively. Develops strategies to mitigate risks that could impact the portfolio’s overall success.
  • Monitors the progress of individual projects and the overall portfolio to ensure they are on track to meet goals.Partners with relevant business, clinical, and department leadership stakeholders to align programs and their projects with system strategy and business/clinical/departmental goals.
  • Ensures successful adoption and change management within and across programs and projects.
  • Designs, delivers, and monitors execution and benefit realization plans associated with the assigned portfolio.
  • Provides program leadership for large, strategic, and/or cross-functional initiatives by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to define program and project scope, change management plans, communication plans, benefit realization plans, and to manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Provide transparency and visibility to the health of the overall assigned portfolio.
  • Manage the impacts of project changes and dependencies, ensuring ongoing prioritization process and reporting of the organizational priorities is updated and maintained.
  • Uses key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of projects and the portfolio as a whole.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to deliver value to the organization and works with relevant leadership and governance bodies to triage, approve, and charter programs and projects that align with system strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of five years’ experience in active project management or process redesign/improvement. Progressive portfolio/project management experience including planning and executing complex projects with multiple delivery partners and/or business divisions. Experience in articulation of issues, risks and proposed solutions, to various levels of staff and management with ability to explain complex systems and processes to audiences that may not be experts in that field. Proven experience working with executives and senior leadership supporting the business strategy and create/execute corresponding business plans and initiatives. Experience within the healthcare industry,  preferred.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience is directly relevant. Degree in Project Management or Industrial Engineering or MHA, preferred. 

 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) – Preferred upon hire
  • PgMP (Program Management Professional) – Preferred upon hire
  • PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional) – Preferred upon hire
