Performs a variety of clinical duties; responsible for assisting the physician with direct and indirect patient care for kids 0-18 years of age in a pediatric orthopedic clinic. Prepares the patient for examination, treatment, diagnostic and laboratory duties, patient education and minor surgical procedures. Perform other tasks as required, both administrative and clinical. Unique clinical tasks for this role may include casting and cast removal.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program or medical assistant program. BSN preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Previous clinical experience in ambulatory clinic.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: A state of Iowa nursing license (RN or LPN) or medical assistant certificate (CMA). Licenses and certifications must be maintained. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
OTHER: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
