Overview

Medical Staff Performance Improvement - Nurse Specialist

BSN

1st Shift; Full Time

Rock Island, IL

Responsible for coordinating and assisting medical case review processes and provider Peer Review.  Oversight of provider Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE/OPPE).  Integral in support of physician quality reviews and unusual occurrences

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence guidance for Providers

  • Acts as a resource for Medical Staff
  • Oversight of Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations for Providers
  • Provides guidance and support for determination of OPPE assessment criteria and performance indicators for the medical staff based on national standards
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and transparency with physicians and allied health members
  • Coordinates with Physician Services department for provider orientation to include safe work practices, Critical Events committee, serious safety events, Peer Review, Red Rules/Code of Conduct, FPPE and OPPE
  • Exercise discretion in all required communications to prevent HIPPA violations and provider confidentiality disclosures.

Clinical Case Review and follow-up

  • Engagement in the Critical Events that involve Medical Staff, mortality case review and provider attribution
  • Work with Manager to develop documentation and education required for ongoing provider quality concerns to assure their understanding in Performance Improvement
  • Facilitate Physician Peer Review Committee
  • Oversees the Near Miss Hotline and Attribution hotline
  • Coordination with CMO to discuss Unusual Occurrences, Red Rules violations & other Provider safety topics

Qualifications

Education:

  • Nursing Degree
  • Bachelor’s in HealthCare Administration

Experience:

  • 5 years of prior hospital experience
  • 5 years of prior experience working directly with providers

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • RN license for IA & IL
