Overview

Manager Nursing Services - LifeFlight

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day to day operations of Unity Point Health-Des Moines LifeFlight utilizing quality, cost effective patient care, and safety principles.  Supervises, supports and develops LifeFlight staff.  Consistently utilizes and provides leadership to others in a holistic approach to excellence in patient care contributing to a high level of satisfaction from patients and families as well as internal and external customers.
  • Consistently demonstrates commitment to the highest standard of safety for both patients and program operations. Provides leadership to others to attain this standard.
  • Serves as a resource person to staff, both clinically and administratively.  Maintains a global perspective as a basis for decision making.  Provides feedback to appropriate management regarding staff, clinical, and operational situations as necessary. Contributes to an environment that promotes staff empowerment.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

 

 

 

Current Iowa license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

 

Masters Degree required (either upon hire or must be completed within 3 years)

 

Meets all standards required by the Flight RN job description

 

 

 

Experience:

 

 

 

 

Five years experience as a flight nurse.

 

Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) preferred or must be completed within 2 years of employment.

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

 

Flexibility

 

 

 

 

Ability to multi-task.

 

Other:

 

 

 

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

 

Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend fluent English.

 

Working knowledge of radio communications and radio terminology is preferred.
