The Trauma Nurse Coordinator (TNC) is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. The TNC works both independently and in collaboration with the trauma program medical director and other members of the health care team. The TNC is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of work to the Emergency Department Director.

Education:
| Associates Degree in Nursing |
Experience:
| 3-5 years’ clinical experience in the acute care of trauma patients |
License(s)/Certification(s):
| Currently licensed in the State of Iowa as a registered nurse Current in Basic Life Support Current in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum or obtain within 6 months. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months NIHSS prior to end of orientation and maintained bi-annually

| Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to accept and implement change. Ability to problem solving make decisions. Possession of critical thinking, analytical, teaching/coaching and research skills |
Other:
| Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. |
