Overview

Assists the Gift & Flower Shop Manager in overseeing the daily operations and inventory control systems of the IMMC/BCH, Plaza, MWH, and ILH Gift & Flower shops.  This position ensures that the inventory is loaded into the inventory system timely and accurately with correct pricing.  Successful fulfillment of these responsibilities contributes to the smooth operation of the shop and to positive relations with customers, staff, volunteers, Volunteer Services, Auxiliary, accounting, and vendors. This position helps ensure quality service is provided to patients, visitors, and staff, and that a positive working environment is provided.

Responsibilities

Assists Gift Shop Manager in the management of inventory, inventory system, receiving and distribution of merchandise.   

  • Fully understands the inventory computer system. Trains staff as appropriate to use the inventory system.
  • Responsible for management of all inventoried stock in the Gift Shops. Will unpack merchandise and check against purchase order, pull all defective or damaged merchandise and load remaining into inventory system following all pricing and coding guidelines. 
  • Ensures credit for all defective or damaged merchandise. Coordinate with Accounting as needed.
  • Informs Lead and Sales Associates when merchandise has been inventoried and is ready for display.
  • Packages and delivers merchandise to individual Shops as needed.
  • Reviews, approves and forwards invoices for payment to ensure they are paid in timely fashion. Coordinates payment for late invoices.
  • Trains and supervises volunteers and staff to unpack, check and prepare merchandise for display.
  • Transfers merchandise to and from IMMC/BCH, Plaza, MWH and ILH Gift & Flower Shops.
  • Organizes and plans backstock inventory quantities.
  • Assists and provides feedback to Gift Shop Manager related to merchandise, sales, and inventory levels. Provides guidance on when inventory levels should be addressed including slowing purchases or holding special sales to reduce inventory.
  • Assist the Gift Shop Manager in development of pricing system.
  • Coordinates with Lead and Sales Associates to order routine items, like candy, beverages, sundries, and standard plush while keeping backstock at a manageable level. Maintains an inventory system that can be used to automate routine ordering.
  • Oversees and coordinates annual physical inventory count. Schedules and coordinates interim spot check physical inventory counts.

High School degree

 

Experience:

 

 

·       Retail experience.

·       Inventory experience.

·        

·       Experience working with volunteers recommended.

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

Retail & financial skills, including inventory management.

·       General office and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and POS systems.

·       High level of ability and knowledge of retail merchandising and skills.

·       Excellent customer service skills.

·       Organized with attention to detail.

·       Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

·       Ability to share knowledge and train others in retail operations.
