Overview

Position Title: Resgistered Nurse

Area of Interest: Aging Services

FTE/Hours per pay period: full-time or part-time

Shift: Monday - Friday

 

The Registered Nurse at Aging Services Adult Day Health Centers will oversee all nursing services as well as ensuring compliance with governing entities within the nursing role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing assessments/interventions.
  • Develop in conjunction with the participant, caregiver, and case manager the Individual Treatment Plan.
  • Coordinate needed medical services, such as; toileting, bathing, mobility assistance, transferring, and other cares as needed.
  • Monitor MD orders.
  • Provide education to center staff, participants and caregivers on health issues.
  • Provide supervision to designated staff and volunteers.
  • Accountable for delegation of nursing assignments.
  • Supervises clinical students.
  • Assist with staff development through in-services.
  • Maintains accountability in compliance with regulations in clinical records.
  • Assist the Director as needed.
  • May drive participant to and from center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to respond to participant health care needs and make appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to provide/develop health education to participants, families and staff.
  • Ability to provide/develop therapeutic activities in conjunction with the Activity Coordinator.
  • Ability to comply with regulatory governing bodies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to develop/maintain relationships with the medical community.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in emergency situations.
  • Ability to lift 50#
  • Ability to push, pull wheelchairs, use gait belts correctly, and support clients with walkers.

Qualifications

  • Valid Iowa RN License and gerontology certificate or experience apreferred. 
  • Completion of Dependent Adult Abuse Training in accordance with Iowa Law.
  • CPR training
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s license.
  • Must carry current automobile insurance in accordance with AbbeHealth’s policies.
  • This position is designated as a safety sensitive position under the Iowa Drug Testing statute and, therefore, requires pre-employment drug testing.
