The Cath Lab RN assists physicians in the delivery of patient care in the Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology and Peripheral Vascular Labs. The RN is responsible for coordinating the care of patients and families that they care for utilizing the nursing process, and the skills that are part of their functions as a registered nurse. Summary of duties include: utilizing nursing knowledge for critical thinking, planning of care, evaluating response to care and planning for the needs of the patient and family. The Cardiac Cath Lab RN will provide high quality care, patient satisfaction, and cost effective care. The RN must be able to take call on a rotational basis with a response time within 30 minutes of the MI Alert being received.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria
| Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position. | Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. |
Education:
| Graduate of accredited nursing program | BSN degree preferred |
Experience:
| Cath Lab or critical care experience preferred | Prefer one (1) year of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency in Critical Care. |
License(s)/Certification(s):
| Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to hire. Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire. Completion of 2 hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. |

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
| Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. |

| Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities. May drive a UPH vehicle, rental or own vehicle. |
