Nurse Resident - 3 East Medical/Surgical - Lutheran

Full Time Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 paid over 2 years

 

3 East is a 27-bed Medical Surgical unit that provides an enriching learning experience. Caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and stroke. 3 East provides an enriching learning experience and uses innovative care delivery to help provide holistic care to our patients by utilizing advancements in technology partnered with fundamental nursing care. We utilize evidence-based practice to make a difference in our patient care and advance critical thinking skills and nursing autonomy within our multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.  

 

Applications are accepted year round for 4 main cohorts. Your cohort will be dependent on your start date. Start dates are dependent on licensure, onboarding, unit availability as well as your personal preference.

Responsibilities: Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.

Qualifications

Graduate of accredited nursing program. Newly licensed nurse within the last 6 months. Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Completion of residency program within the first 12 months of employment. Dept of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work. Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. EOE M/F/V/D
