Facilitates the maintenance of the therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and assists patients with daily living activities. Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients. Takes vital signs, weighs patients and collects routine specimens. Attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education and staff meetings.
Patient Care: · Provides empathetic interactions with patients · Responsible for creating a calm environment may deescalate situation that arise. · Assist patients in attending and participating in therapeutic activities · Conduct patient observations in accordance with physician orders and regulatory requirements · Report observations to your supervisor and/or other treatment providers · May take vital signs and routine specimens · Respond to safety codes · May train new staff · 1:1 patient companion |

Basic UPH Performance Criteria · Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. · Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. · Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. · Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. · Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. · Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
